Get the following warning ( orange light ) message after starting car :

adblue additive quality fault

Could not find this message anywhere - can anybody help me ?

It's basically saying that the quality of Adblue in the tank is not of sufficient quality - or has been contaminated with something else....

Hi Adriaan.
Have you also added an anti-crystallisation additive or a similar product to the adblue tank?
I use adblue but haven't had this problem yet. I don't use an additive at the moment either.

I've been using Wynn's Anti-Crystallisation in my Adblue mixture for years and it's great for avoiding problems - but there are some cheap UREA out there, so be careful to make sure that whatever you use, it meets the specifications required.

Hi Juan. I have considered using this.. "Wynn's Crystal Clean & Protect Car AdBlue Preventative Crystallisation Cleaner Additive" but am unsure if it's really necessary?
At the moment I'm not getting any issues but I'm open to preventative maintenance if it gives a long term benefit. What's your view?

That's the reason I have used it from the get-go, as a preventative measure. I always top up my tank every 3 months or so with a min of 5-6 litres. I pre-mix my Adblue container with the appropriate amount of Wynn's, so it's already mixed whenever I top it up.

This will help prevent crystallisation at the injector and also in the tank.

When I use the diagbox, there is a part where it shows the quality of Adblue and the concentration of urea. In my case, the concentration of urea is 33%. So the system checks the quality of the Adblue liquid. The safest thing is to throw out all the liquid and top it up with checked, but that may not be necessary. It is better to fill the tank full now , so concentration will be improved.Otherwise Wyns cristal is very useful and he cannot cause a problem. Of course, if it is poured according to the manufacturer's recommendation. A bucket of 125 ml for 15 liters of Adblue.

Thank you all, thought the message would mean this, but filled the adblue up at a filling station and assumed that should be okay, did not add anything else like wynns. Got an appointment at a dealer's garage for friday so that should solve it.

I assume you meant you filled it from a container of Adblue bought at the filling station and not by using a commercial Adblue pump? Those can damage the systems on cars

Yes, you shouldn’t use a pump at a garage. I believe these are really only meant for use in larger commercial vehicles.
