I am picking up a 21 reg BlueHDI Shine Plus EAT8 C5 Aircross next week and need to get a towbar fitted. Looking at the manual for the car it says that if a Citroen bar is fitted then the rear parking sensors will automatically be disabled when towing. If I fit a non-Citroen bar is it likely that this will not happen, so I will have to disable all sensors when towing?

Citroen towbars and more importantly the electronic wiring interfaces are specifically designed for the vehicle’s electronic architecture and equipment. So features like special ESP programmes for towing, auto disabling of rear parking assistance are automatic. They also ensure that they work correctly with LED lighting where installed for example.

They are each specific for each vehicle including the fuse box, so personally I would get an OEM one if it was me.
