Disable keyless entry on C5 aircross

Hi

For those who wish to disable keyless entry either for security reasons (relay box thefts), because the keyless entry system is acting up (faulty door handle) or you just don't like it there is a way to do it.

This works for C5 aircross but unsure if it will work with the C3.

Just carry out the steps below:

1. Unlock the car, get inside, and close the door. Do not switch on the ignition or do anything else.
2. Press the lock button on the remote control, and hold it pressed. The central locking wil lock and then unlock, normal behaviour.
3. After about 5 seconds, while still holding the button on the remote pressed, press the central locking button on the piano keys console.
4. Hold the central locking button pressed for about 2 seconds
5. Release the central locking button, you should now hear a short notification sound. That means the procedure was successfull.
6. Release the remote key button.
7. Go out of the car, and try if the Keyless entry works.

If you don't hear a notification sound at step 5 and the car has just locked the doors then it hasn't worked and you'll have to start the process over again.

To get the keyless entry enabled again after disabling it you do the same procedure.

Why would you want to disable the keyless entry? if it's to stop theft, it won't. If these thugs want your car they will get it, to save breakage and wires being ripped out, keep it on. Plus i don't think our type of car is on any car theft gangs list, do you?. And keeping your key/s in a FARADAY POUCH/S will deter any thefts by a RELAY BOX.

This is more about if the keyless entry starts acting up. For example if one of your handles becomes faulty and starts acting on its own whenever the key is near (randomly locking and unlocking the car).

Instead of having to fork out hundreds of pounds for a new handle (which is also likely to fail down the line) you can just turn it off. As you can guarantee they will find any reason not to cover it under warranty.

As for keeping your keys in the Faraday pouch it's just the same as switching it off as if they want your car they will take it one way or another.

I use 2 Faraday pouches to keep my fobs in and far away from the house doors, but as said these are not exactly on the Hit-list for export

The spare fob will deactivate (stop sending signal) after a period of time if left motionless. I picked the wrong one up the other day and it failed to unlock the vehicle until I used the fob button to reinitialise it, so I know that at least works.

Did you not read the specifications and equipment when your ordered it?

Basically you likely have the C5 Aircross plus trim level which is the lowest option level and the plus model only has Keyless starting not keyless starting and entry.

To get keyless entry, you would need to have ordered either the Max or ë-Series trim levels.

That'll be why then, keyless entry is not included on the Plus trim model.

If keyless entry is fitted there should be two rides on aech front door handle.
