Hi all,
My brand new Aircross has only done 52 miles since I bought it, all of it inside the city limits and it appears to have used up 47kWh of charge (from wallbox stats). This is terrible. It also appears to have used up some of the petrol as well so not sure how bad it actually is. Is this normal? If this is really what is to be expected, I might as well not charge the car.

C5 Aircross PHEV terrible electric mileage?

So that's about £15 based on today's costs of 0.32p per kW/H. So not very good if correct, but I think you need to experiment with range on a full charge using electric mode only to get a more accurate picture rather than what the wall charger says (unless you've got any neighbours with EVs who don't think you'd mind sharing your charger)!
But seriously, the range as far as I'm aware is only and here's those magic words 'up to' 34 miles. If you are using electric consumers in the car like heating, electric seats etc then that range is going to dive bomb sure enough.
So best to try and accelerate slowly, and let the vehicle using the regenerative braking (make sure that is on) to conserve power then try and drive with minimum electric power use (remove any phones from the charging pad / USB, turn the audio off for example and see how it does under those circumstances.
There have been upgrades to the system which requires a software update to address range issues, so I would talk to the dealer and make sure these have been applied in your case.

Thanks Juan. I checked with the dealer about software updates and sadly there aren't any apparently. They basically said since it's not done a lot of miles, it's difficult to really assess performance. My problem is that it IS using up too much electricity for even the small trips I've made. I return home after a 10 mile trip to an almost deplete battery which is simply not acceptable. I guess I'll just have to wait till it's got more miles on it.
My 4 year old C5 Aircross phev has never achieved more than 28 miles full electric. Typical in cold weather is half of this nearer 14. Generally speaking not good. I am looking to replace this with a new car and if not a full EV it will probably be a full hybrid not a plug in.

In regards to full electric miles, please note what has been advertised is different from reality.
There are alot of factors occur when using battery operated vehicles..... terrain (up hill down hill), wind resistance, weight, tyre air pressure, battery degradation (charge cycle etc).
24 Miles is great if you factor all the above, bare in mind PHEV is designed for those small trips which are start and go traffic and quick trips to shop.
If you are to invest in a full EV I would highly recommend a Tesla model Y .....if that's out your budget than a Hyundai or Kia (these are the closest in terms of mileage and battery quality) , remember Tesla has the best charging network and it's simply plug and pay unlike other brands.

Can I add temerature as a factor. Using the heater or aircon will kill range, and the battery performance is probably worse in cold conditions.
