So yes your C4X being new has 8mm chain and the 3008 the 7mm.

Thank you for the fast reply. In this case if he decides to buy it I guess the best thing would be to replace it as the car now is at 55 000 miles.

Am I right in thinking anything referred to as a wet 'belt' is in fact a timing chain?

No, it's a timing belt running in oil (on the Puretech engines). It's a chain on the diesels, which this thread is about.

Juan Sheet wrote: Thu Jul 04, 2024 10:09 am As per my post above, it may be because the correct oil was used at the time of the first service. As I said, the oil grades for some engines were changed in early 2024 to new grades and therefore that may be why they are are using the new grade and specification for your most recent service, so nothing to worry about....

This was done in the case of the DV5 engines to lessen the stress on the cam chain at cold starts, so using 5w30 rather than 0w30 means it has a thicker viscosity, so will cling more to the engine components and the cam chain specifically in this case.
I would like to know if my car has a 7mm or an 8mm timing chain.

@Pallas:
@Emil1010: (You also have 2 aftersales recalls for this vehicle! I suggest you speak to your dealer about them - Driveshaft breakage and Engine Management Calibration - outstanding from 2021).

@jeroen5: see my post above - I don't have time to look up everyone's cars when I have already stated the chain type for vehicles earlier than late 2023:

But, you do have outstanding work overdue, so talk to your dealer, it will be free. This is another reason to get your vehicle dealer-serviced so you don't miss important updates that you won't get from an independent!
