I have one in our C3. I have ever had it stop working. How do you know it has disconnected? There is no way I would know unless I had viewed all of the footage. Frustrating that it only does speed in kph, and, as far as I know, cannot be swithched off so I wouldn't (in theory) be allowed to fdrive my car in Austria, where dashcams are absolutely illegal.
Don't have one in Aircross but did in C3 hatchback 2017.
It doesn't turn off unless you physically press the switch on the LHS. If the lights us in it's working. It records in 90 sec segments to it internal memory. When that is full it overwrites. Best way to download is to a laptop.

I've just realised that I didn't understand the original post. I think the issue is that the camera loses connection with the mobile phone when using car play. I have in the past, connected my camera to my phone, but not for several years, and I use it as Beenie3 inicates.
