Last week I parked my C3 Aircross on a slope. Front uphill. When I started her to move off the oil warning can came on along with an audible alarm. I switched off. With car on downward slope no warning and non when driving.
On return home I parked her in my garage which is level. In morning dipped the oil to find it was about 7mm down from the top mark. On starting no warning.
I bought oil at Halfords Total 0W20 Quartz to the required spec, the same as shown on the last dealer service sheet.
That night I left her in the garage on the level and in the morning added oil. The 1 litre bottle has 10 graduations on the side. I put in 2 graduations, 0.2litre and after leaving the car to drain it down to sump returned and it is now on the top mark in dipstick.
On starting the warning light is off and the dash says oil level correct.
So the light comes on at a loss of 0.2 litres . The car has done 5260 miles since the last service.
I am not worried about this oil usage as it would equate to 0.5 litre in 12000 miles.

"Oil dipstick about 7mm down from the top mark...... I put in ...... 0.2litre and after leaving the car to drain it down to sump returned and it is now on the top mark in dipstick."

A nice useful piece of info.
Thanks,
