Hi all
My first post on the forum
Ive had a C3 aircross now for 6 years now and been really unlucky when it’s come to tyres having 3 punchers in the time I’ve had the car. One of a long drive from Manchester to London on a bank holiday weekend which made getting a new tyre all that more difficult.
My question is can you fit an alloy wheel R16 205/60 in place of the spacesaver. I wouldn’t mind if the extra diameter from the wheel ment I lost the gap between the parcel shelve and wheel. I could try it but don’t want to go through the pain of taking a wheel off and putting it back again.
I checked the manual and it does state that when using the spacesaver the damaged alloy wheel can be locked into the space where the space saver was with the locking nut but I guess the damaged tyre would be flat and would then fit.
Thanks all
Ant
Will a normal sized wheel fit in the “space saver” shaped dip in the boot C3 Aircross
In a word NO. Read on:
I have a 2023 C3 Aircross Shine Plus with 17 inch wheels as standard. It came with just a polystyrene former in the boot. Nothing else. Dealer gave me a compressor but nothing else.
My 2017 C3 MK3 Flair had a space saver spare in the boot when it arrived in the wheel well. I bought a 16 inch full size for that and it fitted in the boot. When sold that car I kept the 16 inch full size.
I bought a 2020 C3 Aircross Flair, though it had 17 inch wheels, it had no spare of any type. So I put the 16 inch in the wheel well it fitted properly.
I traded that for a 2023 C3 Aircross Shine Plus which comes with 17 inch wheels standard, which as I said came with nothing , no tools either. I thought I'll put the 16 inch in the wheel well. I tried but it only sits on the top lip. So that's where it is. The tools, I bought a decent jack, wheel bolt cover puller, and wheel brace. They are in the wheel well under the spare. The upper boot floor still sits on the side rails but rests on the spare. I think it's bad that they sell a car with no spare plus the well won't take the fitted wheel if required too.
Note that when the 16 inch is fitted to an axle you get many warnings on the dash due to the difference between the 17 and 16 wheel diameters. The ABS sensors see the 16 inch wheel as having a puncture, you get pressure warnings. It all corrects when the original is refitted after repair.

Thanks for your help much appreciated @Beanee3
Hi Guys, could you please help on the same? I have 2017 Aircross and would like to put spare wheel in boot, but what would be the maximum size of it? 205/60/R16 is ok, or too big? Should I buy only emergency wheel recommended size like 125/85 R16? As far as I get it from your response: 205/60/R16 should fit in 2017 model, but not in 2023 new model, did I get it right? Thanks a lot!
