Hi all,

Thanks to the information I received in this thread I decided not to buy the C3 Aircross 1.5 I was looking, but now I came across a C3 Aircross 1.6hdi, year 2018.
I believe this engine doesn't have the issues stated above, but are you aware of any other big issues with the 1.6 engine which will make this a bad purchase?
Looking back now, was the 1.6 hdi engine generally better than the 1.5?

Thanks!!

The 1.6 is an older engine, will be 5 speed instead of 6, is Euro5 or 6.1 (depending on version of 1.6) instead of Euro 6.2 or 6.3 depending on model year and of course has single cam instead of twin cams on the 1.5. There will be other differences in performance, economy and other equipment no doubt.

Many thanks
Hi, no problem, and sorry, but unfortunately your vehicle was built with the 7mm chain (it's a 2021 build), so will not have the 8mm cam chain fitted at factory. So unless it has had issues and been retro-fitted as part of a warranty claim you will still have the 7 mm chain. The only way to check that is from the guidance in this thread by checking the label for the number as shown.
Hello. I read about 48 pages of the topic and I congratulate you for the support you give to the users. I have a 2019 model Peugeot 508 1.5 bluehdi and I don't know which chain I have. VIN number: VR3FBYHZRKY218188. Can you check it for me?

For those who don't know which one they have Valve Cover , it can be relatively easily recognized by the appearance of the Valve Cover.

This is old : https://eurofrance24.com/catalog/produc ... n-peugeot/

And this is new :https://webautoparts.lt/en/product/16371654898/

The Part number is not visible with the cover installed, but the bumps on the cover indicated by the arrow "b" are easily visible .

See the same article earlier in this thread, it shows how to view the number using a mirror.

The Crossland is on the same platform as the C5 Aircross, but as Stellantis owns both, the Crossland has both DV5 and DV6 PSA engines, so likely has the same camshaft chain issues with DV5 variants earlier than mid to late 2023.

I would like anyone that is thinking of wasting their hard earned money on a c5 aircross please please please don’t do it citron themselves are a disgrace of a company.

My problem started February this year when my 19 plate c5 aircross engine failed after doing 54000 miles because of a will knowing issue (of course they don’t tell you this when buying the car tho) because of the wet belt going causing damage to the engine that can’t be repaired and you need to get a brand new engine fitted. Apparently to Arnold Clark manger we were dealing with told us that Arnold garages up and down the country is full of citron c5 with the same problem and it’s all down to the wet belt failing in he’s words wet belts shouldn’t be put into these cars whatsoever.

We contacted citron with this information and they said that they accept it was down to their wet belt that caused the damage but there willnt be paying for the new engine because the car warranty had ran out in December (typical) what I find remarkable even though they have said they know it’s down to the wet belt so now we have been going back and forth for months and nothing getting resolved in my honest opinion all c5 should be recalled at this rate.

Now it’s September and we still haven’t resolved the problem we are still paying 500 pounds per month for a car that hasn’t been used since February we also had to cancelled our family holiday this year to pay for a second car just to get back and forward to work it’s causing us stress money problems but they don’t care and for me I would never again in my life get a other citron.

So in all stay well clear of citrons the company is disgrace
