First off, your C5 AC is stating there is an aftersales campaign outstanding! I suggest you give Citroen a call and advise them of your VIN / Reg and they'll be able to tell you what it's for, but don't hang about. All work will be free.
Ok, so that'll be the Wave 4 system. Here's the map link for Version 14.

Next it depends on what size USB stick you have. What is the capacity? If it is over 32 Gb in capacity, then Windows may not show the FAT32 option when formatting it. If 32 Gb or under it should allow you to format it as FAT32.
If it is larger than this size, then it may only show you exFAT or NTFS options.

Juan, many thanks for this, and apologies for not getting back to you sooner. All seems to be up and running OK now, thank you.
Incidentally, received the recall letter during the week, my nearest dealer where I bought it can't schedule the recall until April next year!! Happily, the place I used to go to and much more friendly now have me booked in for end of October.

Big shout out to all the suggestions here.
It took me about 8 tries but eventually managed to make it all work. In my case I tried 3 different USB's all larger than the required space (32,64 and 256GB).
I am a mac user so I had 7 tries with these USB's, they are all from trusted brands and work perfectly fine, I formatted then and tested with various cleaner and formatting apps on my mac however, nothing worked... shortly after plugging the USB into the car the install screen comes up and within 10s the update fails.
Then I read in one of the comments here that it's a good idea to try and setup the USB using a windows machine. I haven't used windows in almost a decade but managed to find a dusty old windows laptop sitting in the garage.
It took all day but my 32GB USB was setup and ready to go using the windows machine.
This time everything worked, took about 55min and now my maps are back and the navigation is functioning well!

MACs are notoriously bad for this sort of thing as they leave files on the media that are not compatible with these sorts of updates. Always best to use a Windows machine for this sort of update.
In your case, it it took nearly an hour to download, then you have a slow connection I suspect and most likely the file was corrupt after if completed so failed integrity check.

Hi, my C5 Aircross is asking for a map update and touchscreen update too. Have managed the touchscreen update and install but have tried well over 20 times to download on two different computers and all have failed (1 even failed after it had downloaded!!), I'm following the rules stated but don't seem to be getting anywhere, any ideas before I take it to the dealer for the update??

1) Have you reformatted the USB again?
2) Is the USB of sufficient capacity for the uncompressed update?
3) Have you tried a separate USB - as when the USB gets to a certain stage of use, then memory cells start to fail, and you will get errors.
